about us
We are a manufacturer of ethical fashion, the centre of our existence being the women we employ in India according to the principles of fair trade. Our mission is to offer people in need, especially women, the independence of employment and training in an industry that is familiar to the local community.
and how we began
It started in September 2006, in the back seat of the old Tata Sumo that was Harry's car as Team Leader of an Aid project in Lucknow, the backwater capital of the state of Uttar Pradesh (UP), India.
embroidery workers – the reason we exist
In early 2010 we decided it was time to employ our own workers to do our embroidery, for two reasons:
hand loom fabrics
We prefer to use cotton as the fabric in most of our designs, because of its wearability qualities as a natural fibre. However, cotton production, milling, weaving and dying are all processes that can be destructive environmentally and socially.
hand-done embroidery
Embroidery is an ancient craft, with surviving pieces of ancient origin found from Egypt to China. Traditional embroidery techniques and designs are found in every part of the world, and in India

The team in India works under the banner of an Indian-registered company. Though it is registered like any other company, we are committed to utilising all its profits for the empowerment of needy women. The Lucknow team works closely with us in Australia, thanks to the wonders of e-communication.
